I have decided I prefer the watch I received and I am really happy. You should be aware of what you may … I was sent a SKN793 without a country stamped on the movement or exhibition back. The pictured SKN793 along with most others you will see have Malaysia on these two parts Also my watch has the secondary days of the week in Arabic instead of Spanish. What does this mean?Well, what this watch is, is a Seiko 5 SKN793 built with the same materials, in the same factory with the same quality control but for the Middle Eastern market instead of the U.S. market. What do I think of this? I have decided I prefer the watch I received and I am really happy. You should be aware of what you may receive and contact the seller if you have an objection of getting a non U.S. market version. Also I wanted to share to alleviate any concerns of quality or authenticity, it is 100% the Seiko 5 SKN793. And I love mine.

Seiko dominates the $50-$200 price range This watch is as advertised and for an automatic with day/date complication and exhibition caseback, from a company with a more-than-solid reputation, seems this is probably about as good a value as one will ever find. Vostok might be an interesting alternative in the same price range, but few others can offer this at this price. Watch is understated, bezel is polished, lugs and bracelet brushed stainless. Crown is even more tucked away than the stock photo shows and you’ll probably have to take the watch off to adjust and set/reset the date/time. Removing links is easy but the spring bars on the case were tricky to release. I intended to wear it with a multi-colored NATO strap I thought would go good with the dark blue face but I think it’s too dressy for that and looks silly. A leather strap might work with it, but I guess I’m going to keep it on the bracelet. Some negative reviews appear to be uninformed. For example, no, it’s not a dead battery, it’s an…

A classic watch This watch has everything you need in a watch. It tells the time, day and date. It’s an automatic with an unbreakable main spring, water resistant and easy to read face that looks good. The Seiko 5 was introduced in 1963 and the fact Seiko still makes these watches proves what a well designed watch it is. The movement uses Seiko’s design and is made in Malaysia. The watch I purchased is very accurate for a mechanical watch. I’m glad I don’t have to wind it or replace a watch battery anymore. Overall I’m very pleased with the watch.
